“My whole life I learned to sweep things under the rug: What you feel inside is not what you say on the outside,” Munn says over breakfast. “Now, I’m brutally honest to a fault.”
Pick up today’s LA Times (Saturday, July 24) to read the full story.

Northeastern University will no longer invite the UniverSoul Circus to perform on campus, breaking with a two-year tradition amid questions about the organization’s treatment of animals, college representatives said.
The university made the decision after receiving several complaints, including a letter from the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, about the welfare of the circus’ animals, said Renata Nyul, a spokeswoman for Northeastern.
“We researched the issue and we were not happy with what we found,’’ Nyul said. “So we made the decision to not host the circus.’’
The Atlanta-based circus concluded a 13-day performance on Northeastern’s campus Saturday. The circus had last performed at the university in 2008.
PETA contacted Northeastern after it had received phone calls from local residents who had seen the circus set up in one of the university’s parking lots, said Lisa Wathne, a spokeswoman for PETA. Residents could see UniverSoul’s tigers in their travel cages and feared for the animals’ well-being in the heat, she said.
UniverSoul executive vice president Jackie Davis said she wasn’t aware of Northeastern’s decision. The circus passed all animal regulatory inspections while in Boston, she said.
“We do not abuse animals nor do we support anyone that would abuse animals . . .’’ Davis said. “We take great pride in the way we treat our animals. I have no idea of why someone would make that accusation,’’ Davis said.
UniverSoul is not licensed under the US Department of Agriculture and does not own any of its animals, said David Sacks, a spokesman for the agency. In the past, the USDA has cited some of the companies from which the circus leases its animals for various infractions, but none have been cited recently, he said.
In 2003, the USDA investigated the owner of a pair of kangaroos employed by UniverSoul in a slapstick boxing act after two of the animals died within a few months of each other from alleged maltreatment, according to the agency. UniverSoul no longer works with the man, Sacks said. In 2002, PETA released undercover video of an elephant trainer contracted by UniverSoul beating his animals with bull hooks and electric prods.
UniverSoul has also lost sponsorships in the past with Burger King, Ford Motor Co., and General Mills amid concerns about the welfare of its show animals, PETA said.

I’ve been going nonstop lately with the book tour and becoming a correspondent on the The Daily Show with Jon Stewart (which by the way is like a bowl of awesomeness topped with… um more awesomeness) and getting ready to shoot my NBC sitcom Perfect Couples (which by the way is like a bowl of dopeness topped with… um more dopeness and awesomeness to combine a nice fluffy meringue of goodness).
On top of that, I’ve been getting ready for my favorite convention of the year- COMIC-CON!!
Buuuuuut, I found some time to come back to LA for a minute and I’m so excited to tell you that Mom and Dad are back together again!! I’ll be back on Attack of the Show TOMORROW, Wednesday, July 14. The women of The Daily Show put together a letter addressing recent inaccurate, unfounded, slanted, just plain rude criticism of the show.
Dear People Who Don’t Work Here,
Recently, certain media outlets have attempted to tell us what it’s like to be a woman at The Daily Show with Jon Stewart. We must admit it is entertaining to be the subjects of such a vivid and dramatic narrative. However, while rampant sexism at a well-respected show makes for a great story, we want to make something very clear: the place you may have read about is not our office.
The Daily Show isn’t a place where women quietly suffer on the sidelines as barely tolerated tokens. On the contrary: just like the men here, we’re indispensable. We generate a significant portion of the show’s creative content and the fact is, it wouldn’t be the show that you love without us.
By the way, I’d like to add a few important things people DON’T know about The Daily Show:
1. There is a bucket of gold on each of our desks every morning.
2. Everyone at the show is diligantly working to not only bring you a great show every night, but also to create affordable hoverboards for every man, woman and child.
3. The Executive Producer Rory Albanese declared Fridays, “Friday Braid Day!” We all get in a line and braid eachother’s hair. He said it gives us a sense of “community” and it symbolizes the “intertwining of societies, cultures, races and sexes”. (editor’s note: Rory may or may not have said any of this)
These are just a few things people have left out that I think are pretty awesome about working at The Daily Show.
It’s a collection of short stories from my life from getting my first agent in Hollywood, to meeting Hollywood Royalty and then having him hand me a used antique dildo to bribing kids in kindergarten to let me play with them… I also give you lots of tips for your life… Like how to have more sex, how to survive the robot invasion.. you know- important shit.
Below are the confirmed dates for my book tour so far, and we’re still looking to add more stuff. It’s just been a little hard with my schedule, but as soon as things are confirmed, I’ll let you know! In the meantime, the below is confirmed…
Hope you can make it! It’s gonna be lots of fun and braiding hair and reading and painting our feelings…. love.
